Everything you need to print and sinter your first real metal parts—in one box. The Getting Started Bundle includes Bronze Filamet™ (our easiest metal to print and sinter) plus all the sintering consumables, so you can go from filament to finished metal part without hunting for supplies.

What’s Included:

  • 0.5kg or 1kg spool of Bronze Filamet™ (1.75mm or 2.85mm)

  • Filawarmer – keeps your filament at optimal printing temperature

  • 300mL Alumina Crucible (93mm D × 93mm H)

  • 1kg Aluminum Oxide (Al₂O₃) sintering powder

  • 0.5kg Magnesium Silicate

  • 0.5kg Sintering Carbon

Filament Density:
4.10g/cc – 4.50g/cc

Metal Content:
82.0% – 86.0% bronze (89/11 tin bronze)

Why Start with Bronze?
Bronze Filamet™ is our most beginner-friendly metal filament—it prints easily, sinters reliably, and produces beautiful, fully dense metal parts. It’s the fastest path from your first print to your first metal part.

High Compatibility:
Works with virtually any open-architecture 3D printer—no proprietary hardware or specialized equipment required. Also compatible with 3D printing pens.

Easy Printing Experience:

  • Print with a 0.6mm hardened steel, standard flow nozzle

  • Prints similar to PLA

  • Minimal to no warping

  • Ensure the filament feeds straight into the extruder

  • Less hygroscopic than PLA

    • Do not dry this filament—drying will degrade the binder

FAQ:

❓ Do I need a special furnace to sinter?
✅ You need a furnace that can reach approximately 850°C with a controlled atmosphere (forming gas or similar). Many kilns used for ceramics or glass work. Full sintering requirements and recommended furnaces are here: https://thevirtualfoundry.com/debind-sinter/

❓ Can I print this on my printer?
✅ Filamet™ is compatible with nearly all FFF/FDM based 3D printers on the market. Switch out the nozzle for a 0.6mm hardened steel nozzle and get printing! The list of printers that have been used and the ones that are not compatible can be found here: https://thevirtualfoundry.com/trusted-printers/

❓ How strong are parts right off the printer?
✅ They are quite a bit stronger than you may expect. You can throw them around a little and handle them just fine. Generally, they will not handle load nearly as well as the base PLA would on its own.

❓ How can I make my part shiny straight off the build plate?
✅ If you are looking to polish up a part without going through debinding and sintering, you can sand the part with progressively finer sand paper from 120 to 3000 grit. Then polish with a polishing cloth. For a mirror shine, use a cotton buffing wheel and some Zam polishing compound. More instructions here: https://thevirtualfoundry.com/finishing/

❓ What’s the difference between the 0.5kg and 1kg bundle options?
✅ The sintering consumables in the bundle are sized to work with either spool weight. Choose 0.5kg to try your first prints with less upfront cost, or 1kg for more material to experiment with and a better per-gram value.
